- Description
Since the 1970s, Lorenzo Martínez has been a driving force behind his family’s efforts to preserve the traditional musical native to New Mexico and Southern Colorado. Although he is most wellknown as a specialist of New Mexicanstyle violin, Lorenzo is an esteemed vocalist, multiinstrumentalist, arranger, composer, record producer, and teacher who has collaborated with famous entertainers ranging from Javier Solís to Michael Jackson. Tocando y Cantando (Playing and Singing) mixes New Mexican social dance music with obscure mariachi songs, Mexican salon music, original compositions written by Lorenzo and his father, Roberto, and even a cover of The Beatles’ “Yesterday.”
