This second volume begins with Douglass’ editorial leadership at the anti-slavery newspaper The North Star (Rochester, New York), describes his activity as station master and conductor on the Underground Railroad, touches on his political asylum in England following the hanging of John Brown, speaks of the Civil War and details Douglass’ meeting with Abraham Lincoln.
